Students Petition Omer Sir to Buy the iPhone Duo

Students' petition asking Omer Sir to buy the iPhone Duo

Every teacher gets requests from students: extra notes, shorter homework, one more past paper. Omer Altaf’s O/A Level Business students came up with a different one. They put together a classroom petition asking Omer Sir to buy the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone. It is a joke, and it has become the most talked-about moment of the month.

We’re sharing it because it is fun, and because the petition turns out to be a good Business Studies lesson.

What Is the iPhone Duo?

The iPhone Duo was unveiled by Apple in September 2026 as its first foldable iPhone. It has a 7.6-inch inner display that opens like a book and a 5.4-inch outer display for quick use. It runs on the A20 Pro chip, has a 48MP main camera, and comes in 256GB to 2TB storage options.

In the US it starts at $1,999 for 256GB. In Pakistan it is not expected to be sold through official Apple retail at launch, so buyers will mostly depend on parallel imports and PTA registration, according to Daily Pakistan’s price estimates. Those estimates put the 256GB model at around Rs787,000, and early prices may be higher.

These Pakistan prices are estimates and may change. Check with retailers and PTA before buying.

The Petition: Why Students Want Omer Sir to Buy It

The petition’s case is simple: a Business Studies teacher who explains new products, pricing and markets every day should own the most talked-about product of the year. The students’ argument, in their own playful words, is that it would be “market research.”

Omer Sir has not given a verdict yet. Until he does, here is what the iPhone Duo can teach us about the syllabus.

5 Business Studies Concepts Hidden in the iPhone Duo Petition

1. Price Skimming

Apple launches with a very high price to earn maximum revenue from early adopters who will pay for being first. Later the price is lowered to reach more customers. In exams, link this to new products with little competition and strong brand loyalty.

2. Market Segmentation

A device at this price targets a narrow premium segment segmented by income and lifestyle. Compare this with Apple’s cheaper models, which target a wider market.

3. Product Life Cycle

The iPhone Duo is at the introduction stage: high promotion spending, limited supply and high price. Expect growth only once supply and awareness rise.

4. Opportunity Cost

If one phone costs several lakh rupees, what is the next best use of that money? This is a standard opportunity cost question, and a good way to remember the definition.

5. Brand Loyalty and USP

Why would customers pay so much more for the same basic function of calls and messages? The answer is the unique selling point (the foldable design) and Apple’s brand image.

How We’d Answer the Petition (Exam Style)

Question: Should Omer Sir buy the iPhone Duo?

Judgement: The benefits are a novel product and strong classroom engagement. The drawbacks are the high price, import and PTA costs, and the opportunity cost. A balanced answer weighs both and reaches a justified conclusion. That is how A Level Business questions are marked.
